Periodontal Disease Care

I don't want to lose my teeth, help me!
Gum disease is the most common chronic inflammatory disease on the planet. Most everybody has some form of it…from mild with blood in the sink when you brush your teeth to severe with teeth just hanging on .

Gum disease is transferable…so. you are going to want to think twice about that date with Mr. Right next Friday night or maybe you should check out Grandma before she snuggles up to little Billy and gives him a big ole’ kiss. This disease is transmittable. It is also treatable. And that’s encouraging if you want to keep your teeth for your lifetime.
Call Donna at 757-220-1999 and let’s talk.

Gum Disease: A medical problem with a dental solution.
Gum Disease is the most prevalent chronic inflammatory disease that we know of. According to the Surgeon General, half of Americans have gum disease. They are twice as likely to succumb to heart disease and have three times the normal risk of dying from stroke.

WHY DO YOU WANT TO UNDERSTAND GUM DISEASE?
Your mouth is home to hundreds of strains of bacteria. Bacteria trigger inflammatory gum disease. Sugars and starches left behind by the foods you eat provide a banquet. As they feast, bacteria excrete acids and toxins: bacteria excrete acids and toxins which irritate irritate gum tissue .If the plaque is not brushed and flossed away, it hardens into tartar at the gum line, causing further irritation and infection.

Without treatment, periodontal progresses. Gums lose their tight seal, allowing bacteria to infiltrate deeper, attacking ligaments and bone that hold teeth in place. Eventually, teeth loosen and fall out or must be extracted.
Meanwhile, bacteria travel through the body, leading to systemic inflammation and contributing to grave health conditions including diabetes and cardiovascular disease.
